ABOUT US
The Church of the Covenant Preschool believes that each child is a unique person created by God who will grow in his or her special way. We seek to provide an informal learning environment, the kinds of experience and activities that will contribute to each child’s cognitive, physical, social, emotional and spiritual growth.
We want the children to feel loved and appreciated for who they are. We encourage them to learn to live, work and play cooperatively in a comfortable social setting. Through the use of stimulating materials, :hands on” experiences, opportunities for making choices, speaking and asking questions, interacting with adults and peers and freedom of creative expression, the children will explore and discover their world.
By learning to care for their own physical needs and developing their bodies with good nutrition, proper rest, and exercise, we hope to foster an appreciation for health. In all these ways, we will endeavor to ensure that each child has a feeling of self-worth as special and loved child of God.

MEET THE STAFF
MISS JESSICA
LEAD TEACHER
My name is Jessica and I have lived in Washington all my life. I attended Waynesburg
University, graduating in 2013 with a degree in elementary education. After several years of
subbing in multiple school districts I decided to take a pause and be a stay-at-home mom with
my two sons, Carson and Grayson. Both of my boys attended The Church of the Covenant
Preschool and thrived here, both in their own ways. I loved seeing how both of them developed and grew. I am thrilled to continue my journey with the school and get to guide your children the way the school guided mine.
MISS AMANDA
LEAD TEACHER
Miss Amanda has worked with children since 2011. She is a graduate from Bethany college with a bachelor’s degree in communications. Miss Amanda realized that working with children was what she was passionate about which led to further education at California University of PA, where she earned her master’s degree in education (Prek-4th). Amanda has worked with children in various aspects. To name a few, she has served as a Game Site Coordinator, daycare teacher, Admin Assistant & Christian Education Support, volleyball coach, and a substitute teacher at McGuffey SD. “I read somewhere that people should be invested in the success of everyone; not just themselves. This has stuck with me throughout the years because I want to continue to strive to be a positive role model and make a positive impact in children’s lives.” Miss Amanda lives in Chartiers-Houston with her husband Patrick and two children Heath and Mia and a house full of animals. Amanda enjoys attending and coaching their sports games, traveling, being outside, and spending time with her family and friends.
MISS KATIE
LEAD TEACHER
Miss Katie is excited to welcome children to the world of school as the Lead Teacher in the 3’s and 4’s classroom and join the wonderful staff at the Church of the Covenant Preschool.
In fact, Miss Katie attended Church of the Covenant Preschool as a child! When it was time for her daughter to attend preschool, Miss Katie knew she wanted to give her the same foundation that she had as a child. “Since my daughter is an only child, I knew that it would be important to give her plenty of opportunities to interact with children and learn how to share, resolve conflicts, wait for turns, and cooperate with others. I am so appreciative to her teachers at Church of the Covenant Preschool for helping her to learn, grow, and thrive with these skills and many others. She loved the warm, welcoming environment and all of the activities planned for the children each day. I know she is more than ready for Kindergarten, and I look forward to creating that same love of school and learning in our classroom this year!”
Miss Katie grew up in Washington and attended the University of Delaware where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. After college, Miss Katie taught Kindergarten and Special Education in Delaware for 8 years before returning back to her hometown. She now lives in Washington with her husband, Adam, and daughter, Audrey. Miss Katie enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, dreaming about Disney World, and rescuing and fostering dogs through a local dog rescue.
MISS JESS
ASSISTANT TEACHER
Miss Jess is a lifelong resident of the area, having grown up in Houston,
Pennsylvania, and graduated from Chartiers-Houston High School in 2005. She
continued her education at Mercyhurst College, where she earned a business degree.
Following her graduation, Jessica pursued her passion for helicopter aviation at Bristow
Academy in Florida, where she became a commercial helicopter pilot and worked as a
flight instructor for two years.
After starting her family, Jessica decided to focus on raising her two sons, Eryx (now 11)
and Niko (now 8), becoming a stay-at-home mom. During this time, she stayed
connected to the aviation community by volunteering on the Board of Directors of
Whirly-Girls International, a non-profit organization that supports women helicopter
pilots through scholarships. While volunteering, Jessica had the opportunity to create a
youth outreach event, introducing young people and the community to the world of
helicopter aviation. This experience not only allowed her to share her passion but also
deepened her appreciation for working with children.
Jessica moved from Florida back to her hometown of Houston, PA, to reconnect with
her family. She quickly became an active member of the Church of the Covenant, where
she found a warm and supportive community. Through this connection, she discovered
the opportunity to work with the church’s preschool team, a role she eagerly embraced.
Jessica is excited to contribute to the program, where she hopes to inspire and nurture
the youngest members with her love of crafts, fun, and learning. Her journey beautifully
combines professional achievements with a deep commitment to community, all driven
by her passion for family and education.
